HARRISBURG – Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today spoke with Dauphin County Commissioners Mike Pries and Chad Saylor to discuss House Bill 1300
, known as the Pennsylvania Voting Rights Protection Act, which is currently awaiting the governor’s signature after being passed by the General Assembly last week.
According to Pries and Saylor, “A fair, efficient and transparent election process is absolutely essential. This bill would bolster Dauphin County’s ability to ensure every ballot is counted and safeguard public trust in the process. We have seen a shift in the way residents vote and this bill makes sense as we move forward.”
“The Voting Rights Protection Act was crafted with months of hearings and dozens of testifiers, including numerous county officials and election workers. This legislation addresses many of their concerns, allowing elections to operate more smoothly at the county and local levels,” added Helm. “Pennsylvanians deserve an election that is run fairly, openly and efficiently, which is exactly what this bill does.”
The governor has indicated he will veto House Bill 1300. More information on the bill can be found at pahousegop.com/votingrights
