Helm Votes to Keep Taxes Level in 2021-22 Pennsylvania Budget

HARRISBURG – Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today in Harrisburg voted for Senate Bill 255, the General Appropriations portion of the state budget, which was approved by the House of Representatives. The 2021-22 Pennsylvania budget would spend $39 billion in General Fund dollars, and $1 billion in federal relief funds, to fund the core functions of government services and invest in jobs, infrastructure and education, all while avoiding any new or increased taxes.

Helm Issues Clarification on Small Games Bill for Nonprofit Organizations

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today issued a statement of clarification regarding House Bill 290, which would allow nonprofit organizations to conduct online sales for small games of chance during the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration. The House Gaming Oversight Committee, chaired by Helm, today passed the bill with an amendment that prohibits the use of credit cards, but allows the use of mobile payment applications such as PayPal, Venmo and CashApp.

Higher Taxes are Not the Answer, Helm Says

HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf today issued his proposal for Pennsylvania’s 2021-22 budget. The governor has proposed a budget of $40.2 billion, which is an increase of $3 billion, or 8.2% over the 2019-20 budget. Focal points of the governor’s proposal included a 46% increase in Personal Income Tax (PIT) rates, an increased minimum wage and a severance tax on natural gas production.

General Assembly Passes Helm Bill to License Home Inspectors

Helm Announces $22,000 Grant to Dauphin County Technical School

Helm Announces $17,700 Grant for Friends of Fort Halifax

Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today announced that the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has awarded a grant of $17,746 to Friends of Fort Halifax for a field school and volunteer project. The field school will build from earlier archaeological investigations at Fort Halifax Township Park to positively identify the location of Fort Halifax. These studies have identified buried features and recovered military and domestic artifacts that date back to the mid-18th century.

Governor’s Veto of Sports Spectator Bill Upheld by House, Helm Expresses Disappointment

Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today announced that the House of Representatives has failed to overturn the governor’s veto of House Bill 2787, which would allow decisions regarding school sports and spectators to be made by local school districts rather than by statewide mandate. The motion failed with a vote of 130-71, short of the 2/3 majority needed to overturn.

Dauphin, Lebanon Counties to Receive $38 Million in Federal Relief Funds

HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives today passed Senate Bill 1108, which would distribute approximately $2.6 billion in federal relief funds throughout Pennsylvania’s counties as well as across various state government departments. Of that total, $625 million is allocated to 60 Pennsylvania counties who have not yet received funds directly from the federal government. Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) announced that, based on population, Dauphin and Lebanon counties would receive $37,938,028 in appropriated funds.
