Helm to Host Free Paper Shredding Event on April 26
HARRISBURG – In an effort to combat identity theft, Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin) is encouraging local residents to take advantage of her free paper shredding service on Saturday, April 26. The event will take place outside Helm’s district office located at 2090 Linglestown Road in Susquehanna Township from 10 a.m. to noon.

“We all know that identity theft is a growing problem both locally and across the country,” said Helm. “Now, more than ever, we need to protect our private information and make sure it is destroyed properly. We are pleased to be able to provide residents with a secure way to shred large amounts of personal documents.”

Residents are urged to bring any paperwork that contains sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, medical data or bank account numbers, to be thoroughly shredded at no cost to them. The service will be provided by Keystone Mobile Shredding Inc. of Williamsport.

In addition to the shredding service, the event will serve as a drop-off location for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which is being held on the same day. The initiative, conducted in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, is aimed at encouraging the public to dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs that are prone to abuse and theft. No personal information is required from individuals who are dropping off prescriptions.

Residents are also invited to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, which works with more than 800 partner agencies to reduce hunger in 27 counties.
