State Grants Awarded to 11 Area Fire and Ambulance Companies, Says Helm
HARRISBURG – Eleven fire and ambulance organizations in the 104th Legislative District have been awarded more than $157,000 in funding through the 2015-16 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Ambulance Service Grant Program, Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) announced today.

“Our first responders selflessly dedicate their time in service to their communities in Dauphin and Lebanon counties,” said Helm. “These state funds will help to ensure they have the equipment and training necessary to continue the important work of protecting lives and property.”

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All grants are generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, and not general fund tax revenue.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training or reduction of existing debt.

Following is a list of local fire and ambulance companies and the amount of their grant awards:

Dauphin County

    • Citizens Fire Company No. 1 of Penbrook – $13,334.12.
    • Dauphin/Middle Paxton Fire Company No. 1 – $13,789.79.
    • Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 – $13,789.79.

Lebanon County

    • Bellegrove Fire Company – $12,650.62.
