Helm to Host Senior Expo in Susquehanna Township
Expo to feature three programs for first time

HARRISBURG – In her continuing effort to keep older residents informed about programs and services that improve the quality of their lives, state Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) is once again hosting her annual Senior Expo in Susquehanna Township.

The free event will take place on Friday, September 23, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the second floor community center of the Giant Super Food Store, 2300 Linglestown Road.

“I encourage all seniors and their caregivers to join us,” said Helm. “This event brings a variety of businesses and service providers together in one place at the same time, making it more convenient to learn about the benefits available to older residents in our area. My staff and I will also be available to discuss any state-related issue or concern.”

Three programs will be offered at the expo for the first time. Seniors will be able to safely and properly dispose of any unused or expired medications in a drop off box, courtesy of the Susquehanna Township Police Department.

In addition, seniors are invited to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.

Finally, flu shots will also be available to those with accepted insurance. The cost of the immunization is $30 without an insurance card. Seniors can also take advantage of a number of free health screenings.

Helm’s Senior Expo will feature dozens of exhibitors from nonprofit agencies; local, state and federal governments; and area businesses that will provide information on programs and services available to older Pennsylvanians on a wide range of topics, including health care, insurance, nutrition and exercise, fire safety, financial planning, fraud protection, government, hunting and fishing, and personal safety.

Refreshments and a number of door prizes will be offered. Winners of the door prizes must be present to win.

For more information, please call Helm’s Susquehanna Township office at (717) 651-0100.
