Helm and Tobash to Host Spotted Lanternfly Seminar
HARRISBURG – Reps. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) and Mike Tobash (R-Schuylkill/Dauphin) will be hosting a seminar on the spotted lanternfly on Thursday, September 26, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. at the Halifax Area Ambulance and Rescue Center, located at 31 Bunker Hill Road in Halifax.

“The spotted lanternfly is an invasive insect threatening our natural environment,” said Helm. “I’m happy to be able to host this seminar to help inform people about what they can do to control and eradicate this pest from our Commonwealth.”

The presentation will be given by the Penn State Extension Group from the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Information will include the dangers/concerns of the spotted lanternfly across the Commonwealth, as well as tips on how to get rid of them. There will also be a question-and-answer session to finish off the seminar.

“We want people to have the information they need in order to make good decisions that help reduce the problem,” said Tobash. “We must all work together in an effort to neutralize this pest in order to limit its damage on our orchards and forests.”

Those who wish to attend are asked to register online at or by phone at 717-692-0833.
