Helm Announces State Funding for Halifax Sidewalk Project
3/27/2019
HARRISBURG – Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) today announced the awarding of a $250,000 state grant to assist with a sidewalk and curbing project in Halifax, Dauphin County. Helm played a key role in securing the funding.

“I fully support this project, which will improve infrastructure to provide safer and better connectivity with Halifax Borough for school students, pedestrians and vehicular traffic,” said Helm. “Currently, sidewalks in that area either do not exist or are in disrepair. As a result, students or others often must walk in the street to school buildings, social facilities, recreation amenities or to their bus stop.”

Specifically, the grant, which was made available through the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program, will be used to construct 1,200 feet of new sidewalks and curbs with ADA-compliant ramps at crosswalks along Rise and School streets. In addition, 1,275 feet of sidewalks and curbs will be replaced along Fifth Street.

The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
