HARRISBURG – Upcoming events hosted by Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin/Lebanon) will give hunting and fishing enthusiasts an opportunity to learn about what they’ll encounter in the woods and waterways, and help younger generations experience fishing.

Helm, in partnership with Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin/Schuylkill), has planned a sportsmen’s fair for Tuesday, April 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the Halifax Area Ambulance & Rescue Association building, 31 Bunker Hill Road, Halifax. Registration is not required, but it is appreciated and can be done by calling 717-692-0833.

Helm’s annual Children’s Trout Rodeo held in partnership with the Dauphin County Anglers & Conservationists Club is scheduled for Saturday, May 21. The event, from 9 a.m. to noon, will be headquartered at E.J. Stockpole Memorial Nursery, 201 Clarks Valley Road, Dauphin. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

“I’m really looking forward to these events in which we can ‘think spring’ by focusing on the outdoors. Pennsylvania offers so much in terms of recreation,” Helm said.

The sportsmen’s fair will feature updates about Pennsylvania’s laws and available services.

The trout rodeo is for children ages 12 and younger. Participants must bring their own gear. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the rodeo, which will feature a coloring contest as well. Participants must bring their own gear and be accompanied by an adult. The inclement weather date is Saturday, May 28.
